Twice a year, both of the solstices are a good occasion to recenter your mind and soul. Half of the year has past and it's now important to face any problem or dilemma you might have been through. It is also time to thank the sun for bringing life (if it is Summer), or celebrate its rebirth (if you are down under). Here is a ritual ideas you can do on June 21st to make this day special. Of course, you can adapt it according to you, your preferences and your personality.
Make it a list
Take this time at the end of the first half of the year to make a list of things you have achieved during the first 6 months. You can also make a list of all the things you are thankful for as well as all the things you want to achieve for the next solstice.
Set up your own light altar
Find a place outside that is yours, where you feel like home, and bring up an altar adorned with a mandala. For the mandala, make it with yellow to red tones flowers, fruits or herbs. Take a crystal symbolizing strength or creativity or any other energy that you relate to the sun. Place the crystal over your heart and set your intention for the rest of the year, what energy you would want to bring up. Then place the crystal in the center of the mandala and let it fill with the sun's energy.
The solstice, be it winter or summer, is the perfect time to unleash your creative self. You can go outside and start painting or drawing the nature around you or your close ones. You can also meet up with a few friends and, if you have got the music fever, play and sing your favorite songs around a bonfire.
Cleanse your soul with a bath
Fill up a bath with warm water and light some candles and incense around it. Then, add cleansing herbs to the water (sage, chamomile, lavender, rosemary just to name a few) as dried, fresh or even essential oils. Relax into the water and let your unnecessary thoughts be washed away by the night. Offer your fears to the Mother Moon and after draining the tub, discard the herbs outside in the moonlight.
Follow the sun
Wake up early and watch the sun rising over the horizon. You can even have a morning yoga or meditation. Spend the day outside as much as possible with your friends and family. If you feel like you need to rest and treat yourself, enjoy a lonely lunch only thinking about what has been important for you in the past 6 months. Enjoy the sun setting and the new Sun cycle that is about to start.
